In addition, 6 Black Sea crabs were released from poaching nets and returned to their natural environment.

Over the past few weeks, the ships and boat the Maritime Guard patrolled more than 3,000 nautical miles. In cooperation with border aviation, more than 8.5 thousand square miles of probable fishing areas have been inspected, more than 1,200 vessels and watercraft have been detected and tracked, and 57 of them have been examined.

According to the results of the review work, 15 people were brought to administrative responsibility. The vast majority of them violated the border regime, went to sea outside the established bases, did not have identity documents, or did not bother to have functioning means of communication. Thus, they exposed themselves to stormy or simply uncertain off-season weather. Thus, during the implementation of operational information about the possible illegal fishing, the tactical group of ship and boat staff of Ismail Maritime Guard detachment in one of the Danube River pools detected and detained 2 Ukrainian citizens in a small rubber watercraft, who were arranging places of illegal fishing of living resources with illegal fishing gear, at prohibited time, in a prohibited place and without identity documents.

At the same time, in the area of Tendrivska spit there were twice found abandoned fishing gears, set out in the areas of the Black Sea prohibited for fishing. In general, during the raids, the “catch” of marine border guards was 29 poaching nets with a total length of about 2.5 km, 6 crayfish traps about 20 meters long and a seine net. Also, one small rubber watercraft was confiscated as part of administrative proceedings until the court decision.

In addition, 6 Black Sea crabs were released from poaching nets and returned to their natural environment.

Three orders were issued to prohibit the violators’ vessels from entering the territorial sea and inland waters for violating the border regime.

Control activities will continue throughout the seasonal migration and spawning of aquatic living resources, including those in cooperation with the State Environmental Inspection, State Fish Agency and the National Police.

It should be noted that in the near future with the improvement of weather conditions in coastal border-controlled areas the navigation will be opened, so we recommend to fans of recreation on the water to make sure of the readiness of watercrafts, means of rescue and communication, improvement of permits and locations and strictly follow the rules of border regime.

It should be pointed out that under current legislation, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is entrusted with responsibilities, including the control in the areas of service for the conservation of natural resources and underwater cultural and archaeological heritage, compliance with the rules of industrial and other activities, environmental protection.

At the same time, border guards have the right to stop and inspect in the established order the vessels and watercrafts, which are charged with fishing and other living aquatic resources, carry out search, research and operations related to such activities, or perform other works in the exclusive (maritime) economic zone of Ukraine, the adjacent zone and the territorial sea. And also, the border guards have the right to check the documents for fishing and other activities.
